Editorial policy
Some vendors pay us to be included on Clean Books Report. That payment never affects the rankings or the review itself.
Scores and ranks
Every tool and service is scored on a published rubric. The rank is the score. When two scores tie, the tool with more transparent pricing goes first, and after that the order is alphabetical. Payment is not an input anywhere. The criteria and weights are laid out in what each criterion rewards.
Prices, ratings and plan limits
Prices, ratings, review counts, trial lengths and plan limits live in data files and flow into the pages from there, so a number is never retyped by hand. A rating comes from the platform that carries the most reviews for that product, and a rating never comes from the vendor itself. A plan sold by quote reads “Quote only”. A price is never shown as zero.
Scorecards
Each scorecard states the score on every criterion, the plan prices and the evidence behind each level. A missing level reads as a scoring statement, such as “No credit for inventory tracking”, and never as a flat claim that the product lacks the feature. Scorecards for services and scored software follow the same rules.
What these pages leave to others
The pages give general information about keeping books. They are not tax, legal or accounting advice. Tax elections, 1099 filing, sales tax registration, payroll and the choice of a business structure belong with a tax professional or the agency that runs the rule, and each page that touches one of them links to the agency.
Corrections
A wrong price or plan limit gets fixed once it is confirmed. Send the page, the number and where the right number is published to hello@cleanbooksreport.com.
