QuickBooks price hike calculator

QuickBooks Online Essentials was $40 a month in January 2020. It is $85 now. Each company needs its own subscription, and with three sets of books like mine a rise lands three times.

A new list price counts from the first month that starts on or after the date it appeared.

Some captures from 3 Sep 2021 showed Essentials at $50, Plus at $80 and Advanced at $180 on a different page layout, while others kept the earlier prices until 16 Feb 2022. The higher prices count from Mar 2022.

Essentials is missing from the archived QuickBooks price list from Oct 2020 to Apr 2021, so those months show no list price and no total.

Why a bill can differ from the list price

The list price is what a new visitor sees. A promo takes up to 90% off the first 3 months, and the totals above leave promos out.

Renewals move on Intuit’s dates, not on the day a new list price first shows. In 2025 Intuit moved client-billed subscriptions on 1 July 2025, ahead of the new list price.

Payroll, payments and extra users add to the plan price, and taxes sit on top. With three sets of books I would match the plan line on the invoice to the list price first, then look at what else is on it.

The dated table behind every rise sits on its own page, and what each plan costs today covers the plans and the second-company cost.

Common questions

What has the list price added since the month I started?

The rises add the gap between the price you started at and the list price in each later month. Choose your plan and start month in the calculator and it adds those gaps up.

What will QuickBooks Online cost me next year?

A year costs twelve months of the current list price: $38 a month for Simple Start, $85 for Essentials, $140 for Plus and $340 for Advanced. A new rise would change that. Essentials and Plus have risen in every year since 2022.

Why is my QuickBooks bill different from the list price?

Four things move a bill away from the list price: a promo in the first 3 months, the date your renewal falls on, add-ons such as payroll or extra users, and taxes. The calculator counts list price only.

When does a new list price reach existing customers?

Intuit applies its 2026 rise to renewals on or after August 1, 2026. Its 2025 rise took effect 1 July 2025 for client-billed subscriptions and 1 August 2025 for accountant-billed ones. The list price in the table counts from the first month after it appeared, so a renewal can land weeks away from it.
