How much is Xero?

The short answer

Xero has three US plans: Early at $27 a month, Growing at $59 and Established at $97.

Xero sells three US plans by the month: Early at $27, Growing at $59 and Established at $97. A 30-day trial comes first. Early already lists bank reconciliation, invoicing, receipt capture and sales tax. Xero sits in the other software section with the tools that compete with QuickBooks. The free end of the market is covered in what Zoho Books gives away, and the cost of Wave sits next to it.

What the plans add

Growing keeps the Early features and lists auto-reconciliation. Established adds multiple currencies. Inventory is an optional add-on on Growing and Established, so a store that carries stock pays beyond the plan price. Where Xero earns points shows how those features score.

Invoicing is the usual comparison. Xero lists invoices and quotes on every plan, and FreshBooks’ scorecard shows how an invoicing-first tool scores next to it.

Against QuickBooks

At the paid entry level Xero is the cheaper of the two: its Early plan is $27 against $38 for Simple Start, and QuickBooks Online plans and prices climb to $340 at the top. For a feature-by-feature comparison, Xero or QuickBooks is the page to use. Ranked alternatives to QuickBooks lists Xero with its rivals.

A seller who ships products should check connections first. Xero lists Shopify and Amazon through partner apps, and software built to take storefront sales ranks the ledgers by how they handle that.

More than one business

Xero is priced per organization, with no bundle. It says that if you run more than one business, you can sign up for additional subscriptions. Anyone hoping for multiple companies in one subscription will find that every extra business pays its own plan price. Other pricing questions are collected under questions on other topics.
